The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has given ReCellular their stamp of approval. Following a tour of the ReCellular facility by a MDEQ hazardous waste specialist, we received our State Site Identification number for compliance with all State of Michigan environmental regulations.
In 2002 ReCellular requested an environmental audit from the Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention agency and were found to be compliant with all county standards and regulations. The county investigated many environmental items including toxic, hazardous, and polluting substances, none of which are manufactured at ReCellular, but all of which were properly handled at our site.
The Retired Engineer Technical Assistance Program (RETAP), which gives confidential, and non-regulatory on-site pollution prevention assessments, was requested in October of 2002 to analyze ReCellular's environmental issues. They specifically looked at those issues dealing with energy efficiency. ReCellular has taken their report and is incorporating their suggestions into the organization's environmental initiatives.
