ReCellular Ready To Help New York's Cell Phone Retailers Meet January 1, 2007 Recycling Deadline
World's Largest Cell Phone Recycler Offers Retailers Quick, Easy Compliance with New York's Cell Phone Recycling Act of 2006
Dexter, MI – (January 2007) – ReCellular Inc., the world’s foremost collector, reseller and recycler of used wireless handsets and accessories, today announced that their fast, free and fully compliant cell phone recycling program is available to cell phone retailers operating in New York. ReCellular’s program helps New York’s cell phone retailers meet the requirements of the state’s new Cell Phone Recycling Act of 2006 quickly and for free. Under ReCellular’s program, partners can use various simple methods for shipping used cell phones to ReCellular, including postage-paid boxes and envelopes. Collection partners incur no cost and are eligible for financial returns for their collection efforts. ReCellular’s collection system meets all requirements of New York’s Cell Phone Recycling Act and can be instituted immediately by a retailer. The company also maintains a large database of more than 40,000 locations nationwide where cell phones can be donated.
The New York Cell Phone Recycling Act of 2006 (8182 A) stipulates that every wireless telephone service supplier in New York must accept up to ten used cell phones from any person during normal business hours and provide shipping, free of charge, to a recycling program of their choice. Suppliers are responsible for reusing, recycling, or disposing of wireless devices in an environmentally sound manner; they are also required to post a sign on business premises or on their website, announcing their compliance with the new act.
